High fashion and Rappers

I was just having a heated discussion about this the other day with a friend of mine. He was saying over and over that rappers only rock white tees and Js. I quickly informed him that rappers now have evolved with fashion. They are at Fashion Week in front rows of shows. Designers are getting mentioned in songs now for instance Tom Ford on Jay Z's new album. It is amazing. Here is an article I read today that verifies what I was trying to tell my friend.

Real Life Proportions Barbie

This caught my attention on the news this morning. I had to read about it and share. I absolutely love this idea. An artist recreated the Barbie with real life proportions of a real woman. This will be an awesome way to show young girls that any size can be beautiful not just size 0s or 2s. Please take the time to read this article. It is very interesting.

BET Awards 2013

By now everyone has or should have already seen the 2013 BET Awards show that aired June 30th. It was hosted by Chris Tucker and unfortunately I did not get to watch the full show to critique Mr. Tucker. I have heard mixed reviews about his hosting job. I would much rather talk about the fashion that happened.

Diddy was not impressed lol

There were so many beautiful people who attended the awards however the clothes worn by them not so much. So of my favorites of the night were Nikki Minaj for her red carpet and performance outfit from the first performance. The outfit worn for Ciara's performance was not a favorite because the pants did not compliment her hips.  Meagan Good's red carpet dress was sexy some say
too sexy for a woman married to a Minister, Jay Ellis looked exquisite on the red carpet. Jamie Foxx's red carpet look and his Treyvon Martin tribute ensemble, Adrienne Bailon on the red capet in her fiery red dress. Ciara looked amazing next to her beau, Future. As did Amber Rose and her boo Wiz.  J Cole looked good as well as his accidental twinning buddies DJ Drama and Brandon T Jackson. I know they are going to shoot their stylist for allowing that to happen.  Kendrick Lamar also looked nice as did Gabrielle Union and Dwayne Wade.  Below are pictures of my favs in no particular order.

Of course there were quite a few people that also could have used some help in the fashion department. Let's start with one of my least favorite people on LHHATL, K. Michelle. I think she was going for the Slut Puppy look. She made that suit look super trampy. All she had to do to class it up was throw on a nice lacy bra or a cute corset under the jacket.  There was no need for us to see all of that hanging out. Trinidad James well the picture speaks for itself. Moving right along, Michelle Williams of Destiny's Child, poor baby should have called for June Ambrose to help her out again. Her dress looked like the church seamstress made that dress for her. Bless her heart. Everyone knows I love love love 2 Chainz but his choices for wardrobe was daring but was a miss for him. I didn't like either outfits.  Angela Simmons WTH was she going for Snow Princess.  Normally she is always super cute. That was not a good look. I don't know what Angela Bassett was going for but that didn't work either. India Arie did you get that dress from NY&Co. That was super plain countrified and boring.

Honorable Mention: Pharrell and his ankle pants paired with the tight jacket.

Then there were people that I neither disliked or absolutely loved.
